The file explorer is an essential component that every Windows user uses. However, the file explorer has more than one feature. Each feature makes it easy for you to work on the computer. We write about these features from time to time. Recently a follower asked me how to change the width of the address line and search box in the file explorer. And I wanted to explain this feature in this topic.
How to change file explorer address line and search box width?
This process is actually quite simple. Let’s open the file explorer.
Move your mouse pointer between the address line and the search box.
The shape of the mouse pointer will change. It will switch from single arrow to a two-sided arrow icon. At this point, if we move the mouse to the right and left, we can change the box width.
For example, if you want to expand the search box, drag the mouse to the left when the double-sided arrow appears. The search box will expand.
If you want to expand the address line, this time drag the mouse to the right. The address line will expand.
Yes, all operations are easy and simple. I would like to mention the following as additional information.
If you close the file explorer after changing the address bar or the width of the search box in the file explorer, the changes you made will not be lost (After reboot) , and the address line and search box width will be opened in the same way. Thus, you will not have to do the same process all the time.

This answer is too elementary.
What I need to know is how to prevent Windows from resizing the search box width to arbitrary sizes. I have a dual screen setup and if I ever disconnect and reconnect, then Explorer loses its brains and sets the address bar to about 25% and the search bar to about 75%; The exact opposite of usefulness. Is there no locking feature similar to the Taskbar settings?
