Microsoft Edge is the default browser bundled with Windows 10, Windows 11 and beyond. Edge browser stands out with useful features like Sleeping tabs, Collections, Vertical tabs, Bing Chat integration, and Efficiency mode. It is possible to change the default search engine in Microsoft Edge and you can change it easily in the Settings menu. Here’s how, whether you’re running Edge on Windows 10, Windows 11, or Mac.
Change the Default Search Engine Used in the Microsoft Edge Address Bar
Launch Microsoft Edge on the desktop. To use Google or another search engine for address bar searches, click the menu button (three dots) found in the top-right corner and then select “Settings.”
Click on Privacy, Search, and Services on the left. On the right, click on Address Bar and Search.
Locate the option “Search engine used in the address bar” and click on the drop-down next to it.
Search engine choices under this dropdown menu include Bing, Yahoo, Yandex, Google and DuckDuckGo. It is important to note that this change of default search engine in Edge only applies to searches conducted from the Edge address bar.
You’re now done. The next time you search from the address bar or by right-clicking text on a web page and selecting the “Search the web” option, Edge will use your chosen search engine.
