I have seen many people complaining about Slow Phone charging problem. Whether you have Sasmung or an LG, Huawei or a Xiaomi, this problem affects every smartphone after some time, and usually for the same reasons. In this article, we’ll show you why your smartphone charges slowly, and what you can do about it.
Why Your Phone is Charging Slowly
Power Source
A weak, faulty, or malfunctioning power outlet can also cause your phone to charge very slowly. The wall socket could be old and faulty or perhaps the room’s wiring, sketchy.
–Try charging from a different socket in the same room or in a different room/building.
Put it into airplane mode
–The less your phone is trying to do while it’s charging, the more quickly it will recharge. Airplane mode blocks any wireless radios on your device, reducing your phone’s capabilities and therefore stopping it from doing so much.
It won’t receive calls or messages while it’s in airplane mode, but it’s worth it to have a device that will stay on for the next few hours.
When you charge it, turn your Wi-Fi/data/Bluetooth off or better yet, turn it off entirely. That’s actually the absolute best way to charge a phone quickly.
Background Apps and others
Avoid having too many apps running in the background.
Avoid using your smartphone while it is charging.
Both Android and iOS now have tools for you to find out what apps are running in the background. For Android-based devices, check out the battery usage menu located at Settings > Battery. On your iPhone, select Battery in the Settings app to see which apps are using the most battery.
Always charge your phone in a cool or room temperature spot. Don’t leave it to charge in direct sunlight or in a hot car. If you’re using a portable battery charger, don’t charge your phone in your pocket. If you can avoid getting your battery too warm, it’ll reward you with a slightly faster charge.
If you recently upgraded your device’s operating system through System Update and experiencing quick battery drain or slow charging. It means the new OS is buggy or incompatible with your device. Look for steps to downgrade the version or wait for a bug fix patch.
Charging Port Issues
Your phone’s charging port could be faulty, damaged or loose. Also, It’s possible that your phone’s charging port has been clogged with dust particles, debris or some materials that are preventing your charger from efficiently supplying the required power.
–Try to remove any object (lint, dust, etc.) that doesn’t belong, being very careful not to cause damage to the port’s components. Use a plastic toothpick to remove any objects. Using a small, soft brush inside the port is also recommended.
Replace the charging cable
Bad and faulty chargers and charging accessories are the most common causes of slow charging. This is because USB cables are generally twisted, dropped, stepped on, bent, coiled, and more exposed to activities that reduce effective power flow-through and ultimately damages them.
Cables aren’t immune to physical wear and tear and the USB connector itself also gets worn and can feel loose when you plug in your phone. These cables lose their efficiency over time and therefore can’t provide enough current (amperage) to charge the phone/device.
–Change the Micro-USB to cable. Higher quality cables have copper wire (some cheapos use aluminum and other substitutes that don’t hold up as well) and thicker rubber enamel around the wire, making it more resistant to damage. If changing the charging cable doesn’t work. It’s time to change the charger.
–Plug it into a wall with the original charger.
–If your devices charges wirelessly, it’s possible your charging pad/ charging mat is either faulty or not compatible with your smartphone.
