Windows users may have noticed that by default, File Explorer opens to Quick Access. If you’d rather have the old “This PC” view back, this link click
Now in this post I’ll show you how to change the default folder from Quick Access to “downloads” when opening Explorer. If you are running Windows 10 and want to change the default behavior of Windows File Explorer, you may follow the steps below.
Set Default Folder When Opening Explorer in Windows
Method 1:
1- Go to your Run command, then type in “regedit” then click OK.
2- In Registry Editor, navigate to the follow ing path:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
3- In the right pane of Advanced key, double-click on LaunchTo to modify its value data.
4- Enter 3 into the Value data box and click OK. Close the Registry Editor. The next time you launch File Explorer, it will be the Downloads page.
The setting is instant and you don’t need to restart Windows Explorer for the setting to take effect.
Notes
Note that after setting the value data to 3, drop-down box in the Folder Options dialog would appear like this.
Tips: Configure Windows File Explorer to Of Quick Access
Change LaunchTo DWORD for what you would like:
1 = This PC
2 = Quick access
3 = Downloads
Method 2:
1- We have coded a script to make your job easier, just download the script at the end of the page and Unzip it then double-click. Confirm the User Account Control dialog if prompted.
2- It will show a pop-up window with the text “file explorer will be open downloads s folder” just Click ok button
Ok. Thats all.
Tips: First click will set the file explorer to open downloads folder.
Second click will set the file explorer to open this pc folder.

Thanks this method works for win 11 too.. have changed value to 1 to get straight @ this PC, thanks for nice change,
