You’ve probably gotten used to or irritated by sketchy text messages sent to your phone and offering you huge amounts of money or a great job offer. Some phone plans may charge you for incoming text messages and smishing (SMS phishing) attacks can be even more dangerous if you’re not careful. But did you know that there’s a little-known feature buried in the Google Messages app that can filter and alert you to spam messages before they’ve even hit your inbox? Here’s how to block spam texts on Android, so you can stop scammers clogging up your inbox.
How to Enable Spam Protection in Messages on Android
Tap on the three vertical dots in the Messages App and then tap on Settings.
Now tap Spam protection.
And fiinaly turn on the Enable spam protection switch. Your phone will now alert you if an incoming message is suspected of being spam. Open the Messages app and tap the three dots in the right corner and go to the “spam and blocked” menu. Here you will see blocked and spammed messages.
