How to open each folder in the same window or new window?
When you open Windows Explorer and double click a folder, Explorer was configured to open each folder in its own window. It is possible to change this behavior and make File Explorer open each folder in a new window or you may want to stop file explorer opening a new window each time. If you’d like to change the File Explorer’s “Open each folder in the same window” feature , there are some things you can do.
How do I stop File Explorer opening a new window each time
Launch File Explorer on Windows 11.
Click on the three horizontal dots and select Option. This will open the Folder Options window. If you want to open folder Options more Practically , use the following code in Run dialog box.
control.exe folders
In folder Options window , you can stop File Explorer opening a new window each time and force “Windows Explorer” to open new folders in the same window with choose the Open each Folder in the same window.
Finally click Apply at the bottom of the window, then click the OK button.

In folder Options , Click on the Radio button next to the second option to make Windows open each folder in its own (new) window.
Alternative Method
Open each folder in the same window or in a new window via vbe file
Just download the script at the end of the page and Unzip it. ( Password: ceofix)
From now on, whenever you want to open every folder in the same window, just double click on the vbe file.
Also, if you change your mind and want to open it in a new window, simply double-click the vbe file again. It’s very easy isn’t it?
