The Snipping Tool is a screen capture and recording tool built into Windows that allows you to capture a portion or the entire screen of your computer. The Snipping tool lets you capture video of the screen and convert the image to text (OCR). In some environments, such as the workplace, organizations may want to disable screen capturing and video recording to prevent accidental or intentional leakage of confidential information.
On a home computer with multiple users, You may want to prevent children from taking videos and pictures of the screen all the time. You can enable or disable the ability to capture the screen or record video of your desktop using the Snipping Tool app.
In Windows 11, enable or disable screen capture and recording with the Snipping Tool
1. Open the Windows Registry and navigate to the folder key path below.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\PolicyManager\default\Experience\AllowScreenCapture
2. Then, double-click the value (REG_DWORD) name on the AllowScreenCapture key’s right pane to open it. To disable screen capturing and recording with the Snipping Tool application, enter a value of 0.
Editing the registry can be risky. It can cause irreversible damage to your installation if not done correctly. For this reason, we have coded a simple application that makes the necessary changes in the registry with one click.
If you download and run the application from the link at the bottom of the page, the screen capture and video recording features of Snipping Tool will be disabled.
To return to the default features of the snipping tool, simply run the application again.
Where is the download link, I couldn’t find one?
